Why soy wax?
Take off the lid and sniff! How else to decide which candle to buy for your home? Do you ever check the label to see what kind of wax you're going to burn? Does it matter? Most mass-produced candle companies may have soy as an ingredient, but the candles are not made from soy wax. Paraffin is the most used candle wax today. Only then come: beeswax, soy wax, palm wax, synthetic wax and a mixture of all these. Of all the options, soy wax is the most beneficial for both you and the environment. That's why, at Fogveli, all our candles and products are made from 100% soy wax.
What is soy wax?
Soy wax is a 100% natural wax derived from vegetable soybeans. Soybeans are one of the major agricultural crops grown in the United States, after corn. Most of the world's soybeans are grown and harvested in the midwestern United States. After the beans are harvested, they are then cleaned, cracked, hulled and rolled into flakes. Soybean oil is extracted from the flakes and the remaining flakes are used for animal feed.
Benefits of soy wax:
- Soy wax is non-toxic and cleaner burning , being made without toxins, carcinogens or pollutants, meaning our candles are less likely to trigger allergies. As a vegetable based wax, it does not release any harmful by-products and does not produce black soot that can stain walls and curtains compared to other top waxes.
- Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin, and because of this, soy candles will burn more slowly and longer than paraffin candles. The scented oils are released better due to the lower burning temperature and the melted soy wax renders a smell that will be much stronger and more pleasant.
- Soy wax is easier to clean because it is biodegradable. It can be easily cleaned from any surface with warm soapy water.
- Soy wax is natural, renewable and vegan derived from soybeans. This wax is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns into a solid at room temperature.
